About Us
Our Southland Hospital team is remodeling our Critical Care Unit and has exciting opportunities for physicians interested in critical care medicine.
We are seeking Dual Trained Specialist Intensivists, anesthetists, or emergency medical specialists with an interest in critical care.
Currently, our 6-bed Critical Care Unit admits approximately 500 patients annually.
With recent investments, we aim to expand to two Intensive Care beds and four High Dependency beds, serving a diverse case-mix from a large geographical area, including general medical, surgical, trauma, paediatric, and burns patients.
Role Details
Shared roster with anaesthesia colleagues during the remodeling phase.
Participation in on-call duties, teaching, supervision of junior staff, team rounds, quality activities, and audits.
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must have, or be eligible for, vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council in intensive care medicine and/or your specialty.
A postgraduate qualification in adult Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM or equivalent) and in your specialist field is essential.

Salary Range
This role falls under the ASMS Collective Agreement, with a salary between NZD 185,380 (Step 1) and NZD 267,980 (Step 15), pro rata.
