SSS is the first unit in New Zealand to be ISO 13485 accredited and utilises advanced sterilisation technology and training methodologies, combined with leading edge software to provide comprehensive support to our kaimahi (staff) and customers.SSS operates 24/7, utilising a diverse, multi-cultural workforce from two sites servicing 39 operating theatres along with numerous wards, clinics and departments.
We process over 7 million instruments annually, used for over 45,000 surgical procedures in different locations, every year.
SSS plays a critical role in quality outcomes for patients during their health journey.ResponsibilitiesEnsuring that all reusable medical devices (RMDs) are functioning within the expected specifications and are safe for continued use in patient carePlanning, monitoring, scheduling and documenting planned preventive maintenance of power tools, high complex RMDs, repair and maintenance, and replacement of RMDsSetting RMD tray layout including fixations and ensuring delicate RMDs are protected during processing, storage, and moving and handlingLiaising with stakeholders about clinical requirements of RMDs and approvalLiaising with Finance, Procurement & Healthsource on capital purchases of RMDs including replacement as requiredComplying with the Te Toka Tumai finance and procurement policies and procedures for Capital Purchasing (CAPEX)Maintaining, reviewing & updating RMD Asset including "bread & butter" RMDsAbout the Team/Service/LocationOur Sterile Sciences Service Team prides itself on its work ethic, while maintaining high standards as a team, that align to our values of Haere Mai, Manaaki, Tuhono, Angamua to support best patient care throughout Te Toka Tumai.

The Sterile Sciences Service Educator on-site will assist in your training with the team's support to learn the role and grow a career within Sterile Services.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have entry level NCEA level 1 or High School equivalent plus a Level 3/Level 4 Certificate in Sterilizing Technology, must have 3 years or more experience working in a SSS environment, and must have good computer skills, and be flexible in working at both sites (ACH and GCC sites).
