Details of the offer

Our work is secret, but the reason for our success isn’t. It’s our people.

And we’re just like you. We’re ordinary people. But together, we’re doing extraordinary things to protect New Zealand and New Zealanders.

While we’re ordinary people, we’re not all the same. We welcome diversity, in all its forms, in fact we consider it a strength.

Join us and become part of a Community where your skills, experiences and ideas are valued and you’re encouraged to be curious, to share your ideas and of course, have fun along the way.

If you’re up for the challenge, become Beyond Ordinary with us.

The New Zealand Intelligence Community (NZIC) Security Services Group is responsible for protecting the NZIC’s personnel, information, and assets, from a wide variety of internal and external security threats. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced security/intelligence professional to lead our Insider Threat Team.

This is a distinctive role where the right individual has a chance to apply their skills and knowledge over a broad range of activities, interesting work and complex tasks, and provides support to both Government Communications Security Bureau and New Zealand Security Intelligence Services.

You will be fundamental in contributing to the Security Services Group business plans and the organisational strategy as well as:

Proactively lifting the security culture within the NZIC

Managing insider threat investigations within the NZIC and wider New Zealand government

Delivery of the NZIC security education and awareness, security policy, and personnel security programmes

Developing and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement within the Insider Threat Team

You will work with a wide variety of individuals and teams – an important part of this role will be developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers, and stakeholders, as well as providing a high standard of customer service.

To be successful in this role you will have experience in managing complex security investigations and risks, a proven ability to apply sound judgement in dynamic situations. You will have proven leadership skills and a working knowledge of the Protective Security Requirements.

The upmost professionalism, integrity and discretion are required.

If you are looking for the opportunity to take on a new challenge, have a passion for security and intelligence and a natural ability to build rapport with others, are comfortable working with delicate information and don’t mind being thrown the odd curve ball, then we may have a job for you.

We want our people to succeed, whatever success looks like for them. Join us and we’ll give you significant professional development opportunities aimed at taking your career in the direction you want it to go. You won’t stand still with us as we’re committed to ongoing learning and continuous improvement.

We’re also committed to your wellbeing. We want our people to be the best they can be, both at work and at home. We offer our people comprehensive benefits, access to staff networking groups, flexible working and great work-life balance.

If you want to love coming to work each day, let us help you become Beyond Ordinary.

Salary from $93,497 - $140,245 per annum.
Midpoint of the salary range is $116,871 reflecting full competence in the role.
