Project Background:
The infrastructure and services stream is sponsored by the Chief Technology Officer, and involves uplift to many aspects of core research infrastructure (including high performance computing, cloud, data management & storage, network and data-centre), as well as uplifted operating and service model streams in the research platform services team. The architecture roadmap for the infrastructure elements is nearing completion, with an indicative ~15 discrete projects for 2019, and a Senior PM is required to plan and deliver the Infrastructure & Services stream of the Program. The 2019 funding allocation for the infrastructure stream is $10.6m.
Reporting to the portfolio manager, BI&IT, the role will be responsible for Infrastructure & Services stream program planning and delivery, as well as project management of some of the programs projects. An incumbent project manager in Research Platform Services will also form part of the team with other resourcing requirements to be confirmed through the planning stage.
Objectives / Deliverables:
During this engagement the Senior Project Manager will be specifically responsible for the following:
Responsible for overall Petascale Infrastructure & Services stream Program planning and delivery as well as project management for a number of projects.
Reporting including Monthly Program Steering Group Reporting (to CTO level), project / program / portfolio status reporting
Responsible for planning and project management of individual projects with large organisational and technical complexity and customer impact.
Lead cross-functional teams drawn from across the Infrastructure Services portfolio to deliver project engagements in a matrix structure.
Manage the day to day relationship with sponsors and stakeholders.
Procure, manage and work with external consultants and vendors where appropriate to provide specialist knowledge, capability and components of project delivery.
Ensure compliance with relevant internal and external guidelines including legislation, statutes, regulations and policies.
Specific Skills Required:
Minimum 5+ years senior project management experience (Mandatory)
Demonstrated large & complex infrastructure project & program delivery experience, budgets $5m+ (Mandatory)
Vendor Management experience (Mandatory)
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills including to C-level executives (Mandatory)
Delivery focused and action oriented (Mandatory)
Highly collaborative and team-focused (Mandatory)
Project management certification eg: PMP, Agile (Highly Desirable)
University sector experience (Desirable but not essential)
