JOB DESCRIPTIONAbout DoubleTree by Hilton Karaka
Located in the beautiful rural town of Karaka, just 30 minutes south from Auckland city, the new DoubleTree by Hilton Karaka is part of the famous New Zealand Bloodstock Sales Centre; the country’s largest international thoroughbred auction venue. The hotel will feature 120 stylish guest rooms, including four spacious suites, a restaurant and bar, fully equipped gym, pool and two meeting rooms. The hotel will also have full access to Karaka Pavilion which encompasses four meeting and event spaces, accommodating events from 12 to 600 people.
What will I be doing?
As the Human Resources Manager, you will be accountable for the entire spectrum of Human Resources activities to drive team member engagement - including succession planning, talent management, learning and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee relations initiatives.
You will drive all employee relations and industrial relations activities and will have the opportunity to localise a number of Global Human Resources activities that reflect the company vision, values and brand cultures. Other key aspects of the role include:
Support the development of the HR business plan and forecast the short and long-term talent & training requirements of the business
Support and maintain a best practice approach for industrial relations & manage and resolve, promptly and completely, all employee relations issues
Maintain a best practice recruitment approach to drive a high-performance culture through talent acquisition
Develop a robust training plan for the business to support the growth and development of Team Members and ensure the Hotel meets brand & Company standards.
Build a strong career and succession planning system to retain and develop talent
Implement training and development strategies to continuously improve performance and guest service
Provide a framework for counselling, coaching, and team member wellbeing ensuring each team member can thrive
Track and report Human Resources related data trends and actively work towards continuous improvement
Drive Team Member engagement through embedding local and national initiatives
Complete end to end recruitment to drive a high-performance culture through talent acquisition

What are we looking for?
To successfully fill this role, you should have a passion for customer service and be a strong team player. In addition, the minimum skills you will need;
A minimum of 5 years' experience in Human Resources / Strong Industrial Relations experience knowledge of New Zealand legislation
Extensive background in team member engagement, recruitment and learning and development activities
Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and conflict, and work efficiently under pressure
Excellent leadership skills and exceptional communication skills with an ability to connect with people at all levels
A customer service approach to human resources & excellent interpersonal skills
A Degree level qualification or equivalent relevant experience
It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
Previous human resources management experience in the hotel, hospitality, leisure, and/or retail sector
