About the role We are looking for an HR professional with strong ER/IR experience to join our team as an HR Manager for a 6-month fixed term contract to cover parental leave. Based at our Steel Mill in Glenbrook and reporting to the General Manager People, you will be responsible for driving the implementation of key people strategies and initiatives that support the achievement of New Zealand Steel?s commercial success to the Primary Operations and Mining & Services divisions.This role is not for the faint hearted and will ideally suit someone who has a strong background in heavily unionised environments and change management. You will have well-rounded knowledge and experience as an HR professional and is well practised with workplace investigations, performance management, providing specialist advice, recruitment and supporting business leaders on people related matters as well as leadership coaching and development. Experience working in large organisations in the areas of manufacturing, construction, heavy industry is desirable. Experience in a unionised workforce is essential.
Role responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Leading the Primary Operations and Mining & Services leadership teams through change projects
Supporting the Primary Operations and Mining & Services businesses Leadership Team with succession planning and talent development
Support the implementation of an Employment Relations Plan that promotes positive workplace relations with our people and their representative unions
Seek business improvement opportunities and create project plans to achieve the required performance change
Drive/execute a project plan for sustainable leadership development for the Primary Operations and Mining & Services business Units
Build employee and organisational capability across the Primary Operations and Mining & Services businesses, identifying and supporting the creation of appropriate development opportunities as well as opportunities to attract key talent where appropriate.
Support the Primary Operations and Mining & Services Leadership Teams in the annual performance and salary review and STI process
Full time 6-month fixed term role
Role Location: Steel Mill - Glenbrook, with flexibility to cover Waikato North Head mine site at Otaua (approx 20mins from Glenbrook site)
Hours: Monday ? Friday 40 hours per week
What you will bring
You will need to be someone who enjoys a challenge and have a proven track record of developing trusted cross functional relationships at all levels. Structured in your approach but able to handle multiple and competing priorities, your proven natural commercial acumen to deliver business results will be some of the keys to your success in this role. In addition, we are looking for people who can demonstrate the following:
Required:
Bachelor?s Degree in HR or other relevant tertiary qualification
5+ Years HR generalist advisory experience
3 Years IR experience
A strong communicator both written and verbal, with a passion for helping our business leaders achieve their business objectives
High initiative and tenacity
Pragmatic approach to problem solving and strong analytical skills
Stakeholder relationship engagement and management
Able to negotiate and implement contractual agreements
Strong influencing and interpersonal communication skills
Can solve problems of moderate complexity requiring changes to existing procedures for their solution
