The role
Reporting to the Group Manager Health Safety and Environmental, in this role you'll be driving the implementation of company health and safety strategies and improvements across the Northpower Auckland Contracting operation.
Guiding a team of 6 specialists, a large part of this role involves working proactively with our people to identify HSQE improvements and providing input into improving/maintaining local and organisation wide safe methods of work. Alongside this you'll carry out worksite assessments and review/challenge the investigation of incidents, using ICAM techniques, monitoring and reporting. You'll manage the training and competency frameworks to ensure compliance and take the lead in monthly operational safety meetings.
Ultimately you'll ensure the Auckland operation has a safe environment for field staff, contractors and the public and complies with all relevant legislation including Codes of Practice, Standards, together with the Company's HSQE Policies, Procedures, and Standards.
Covering a period of parental leave, ideally you'll be able to start with us towards the end of July and handover early March 2021.

Who we're looking for
An individual with proven HSQE leadership and coaching abilities preferably in an operational service provider environment
NEBOSH or equivalent certification and University Qualification
Experience in either Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) (Preferred) or TapRoot® root cause investigation analysis methodologies
A team player with a great 'can do' attitude
Someone with strong interpersonal skills preferably experienced in working in a multi-cultural environment
Electricity distribution experience is an advantage but not essential
