Home Pet Care - Summer Holidays

We are Wellington's leading in home pet care company and are passionate about providing excellent service for our clients and their pets. We are looking for pet loving superstars to join our team over our peak period to do in home pet feeding visits. Staff need to be available everyday and will be needed to work 7 days for approximately 3 weeks over the Xmas/ New Year period. Positions are starting December until mid/late January. Shifts are split and generally between 8am - 6pm 7 days. Ongoing work may be available to the right candidates.
We cover all of the Wellington area so a local person with access to their own transport is a must due to travel demands. Please note the hours and pay rate will be discussed at the interview as we have limited choices for entering details on form but you are paid per job, works out to approximately $21 per hour. As you are self employed you can also claim all your expenses back, ie petrol, phone, internet etc.
Ideal applicants will have proven experience with, and be comfortable handling and caring for, all domestic pets including but not limited to cats, dogs, rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, fish, turtles, reptiles and chickens. Occasionally you will be required to medicate animals so experience in this area is a definite advantage.
The majority of the work entails daily visits to clients' homes to care for their pets and ensure the house is secure while owners are away. We also provide other services such as dog walking, pet taxiing and special needs care and we also have fairly permanent house sitting available for the right applicants. Successful applicants will : Have proven experience in animal care Be physically fit and able to handle/ walk larger dogs as necessary Be reliable, honest and able to work unsupervised Want to provide the very best service to our clients Have great time management Have excellent communication skills Be able to provide valid police check and references A driver's license and own vehicle is a must, and you need to also be prepared to use your vehicle to transport animals if and when necessary e.g. pet taxiing to catteries and the airport or transporting pets to vet clinics for emergency medical treatment. Staff are hired on a contractor basis and paid per job. Please note that if you are holding a student visa, you will likely be ineligible for this job as it is a contractor position.
