Hockey Manawatu Incorporated (HMI) is one of the leading hockey associations in New Zealand with nearly 2,500 registered winter players, a summer competition and numerous development programmes which continue to flourish.The HMI board are seeking a passionate, driven and outcomes focused General Manager to lead our organisation and ensure it continues to be successful and have a sustainable future.As General Manager you will be responsible for and lead a passionate and dedicated team of full and part time employees, as well as mobilising and enabling a community of volunteers.You will lead the organisation, with the support of the Board, to deliver the strategic plan and leverage off recent facilities upgrades (including the addition of the third turf at Massey University) and the success of major events.A key part of this role will be understanding the impact of Hockey NZ's strategy and associated changes on HMI, advocating for hockey in our region, addressing any challenges and seeking out opportunitiesKey attributes for the role will be strong operational, delivery and people management skills, along with effective communication and promotional capabilities. Critical for success will be a demonstrated ability to build trust and interact with members and stakeholders within the Hockey, sporting, local government and business communities.Other key attributes include:Knowledge and experience of successfully implementing strategyManage and maintain relationships with clubs, Hockey NZ, the sports sector and other stakeholdersDevelopment of a culture that gives life to the organisation's valuesExcellent interpersonal, organisational and presentation skillsSelf-motivation and self-managementAbility to attract and gain Sponsorship and fundingExperience and exposure to the sports and recreation sectorFinancial skills, including budget development and managementThis is a full-time position, with some evening and weekend work required.
