We have a job for an experienced farm worker (at least 12 months) for a Herd Manager position on a farm in the Ashburton area. This is for a 1200 cow farm, milking through a 60 Bail Rotary shed.You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including:Milking and monitoring milk qualityStock handling and feeding (feed management)Fencing and weed controlCalving and calf rearingShed maintenance & preparationTractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing, and silageMonitoring, recording, and maintaining animal healthOther general farm dutiesWeekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 45. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate of $29.66 for any hours beyond the maximum hours.The schedule may vary; Roster will be 6 days on, 2 days off rest of the year.Salary is up to $69,405 per annum subject to experience.Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references.To be considered you must:Provide a CV which is current, correct, and complete or alternative evidence of work (this is proof of work and professionalism and the employer will not consider you without this)Be a solid worker with good character (where possible, we will do a criminal check)Be physically fitBe able to pass a pre-employment drug testHave a full driver licence as you'll be driving a tractor acrossFair warning - if you're not willing to get up early, work hard, and communicate well with others, you won't want this job (or last in it).
