Job Description
He angituutanga: The opportunity
Reporting directly to the Head of Portfolio Delivery, you will proactively lead, influence, and enable a strong health and safety culture within the unit to ensure best practices across our capital works portfolio.
You will collaborate with programme delivery/project managers, contract managers, and contractors to lead, guide, and advise on safety best practices in high-risk projects.
This role combines site inspections, assurance, and leadership without direct reports, offering variety and fulfillment.
Your day may include site inspections, investigations, report creation, trend analysis, or coaching sessions.
Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders is a key aspect of the role.
Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification such as Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent workplace experience.
At least 7 years' experience managing health and safety in infrastructure or construction.
Excellent knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act (2015).
At least 3 years' experience in a health and safety leadership role.
A natural leader passionate about sharing knowledge, coaching, and supporting others.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with confidence to engage with senior managers, elected members, and contractors.
Proven experience in driving change and positively influencing organizational culture.
