Thisis a permanent position working 40 hours a fortnight (0.5FTE) within our Outpatient department at WairauHospital. The Outpatient department covers a variety ofmedical and surgical specialties and you will be working rostered and rotatingshifts generally from Monday to Friday.
We practice in a collaborative patientpartnership model of care to achieve best outcomes for our patients/familiesand whanau. As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of ourdedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work withinthe team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, basic patient observations,some clinical tests and monitoring and other tasks as directed by theRegistered Nurse.

You will have a mature outlook, the ability to geton with a wide variety of people, good information technology (IT) skills (especiallywith MS Excel and Word) and excellent organisational and communication skills.
You will also have the ability to work in a flexible and methodicalmanner, demonstrating honesty and reliability, and will be adaptable to change,use appropriate initiative and respond flexibly to service needs.
Experiencewithin the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full trainingwill be provided.

Essential
Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*
