About
the Role
This
is a fixed term position working 1FTE within
our Inpatient Unit at Wairau Hospital.
The Inpatient Unit covers a variety of medical
and surgical specialties and you will be working rostered and rotating AM: 0645
- 1515, PM: 1430 - 2300, generally from Monday
to Sunday.
As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our
dedicated nursing environment with full support.
Your role is to work within
the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, basic patient observations,
some clinical tests and monitoring and other tasks as directed by the
Registered Nurse.

The Wairau Hospital Inpatient Unit
provides dedicated care to patients across Medical, Surgical and AT&R
specialities.
The team work closely together to ensure patients receive the
highest standard of care in a compassionate and patient centred manner.

The Inpatient Unit

About you
* You will have a mature outlook, the ability to get on with a wide
variety of people * good information technology (IT)
skills (especially with MS Excel and Word) and excellent organisational
and communication skills.
* You will also
have the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner,
demonstrating honesty and reliability, and will be adaptable to change,
use appropriate initiative and respond flexibly to
service needs.
* Experience within the health sector is
preferred, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
* NZQA Level 3: New Zealand
Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if
not previously obtained, is to be commenced once
orientations have been attended.
Qualifications
Essential
* Year 11
NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent) * Year 11
NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent) * NZQA
level 3 qualification (or equivalent)* Working at Health New Zealand
