Details of the offer

Are you looking for an exciting role in Health and Safety with one of Aotearoa's most attractive employers? Look no further!
At the Department of Conservation our staff's health and safety is our top priority. We work in a unique environment where no two days are the same, with our staff often being exposed to a wide range of risks due to the nature and locations of our work. We foster a positive safety culture where we aspire to be an injury-free workplace. This is an exciting, new, opportunity to join a diverse organisation with a wide range of work - there are few places that have the breadth of opportunities in the field of health and safety that the Department of Conservation can offer you.
About the role
The Health and Safety Analyst is part of the national Health and Safety Team. This role contributes to organisational improvement by designing and developing a comprehensive organisation-wide system of health and safety data, information and reporting. It entails gathering and analysing critical data, designing and preparing reports and introducing process improvements throughout the reporting cycle. The Health and Safety Analyst also supports DOC in the maintenance of health and safety programmes such as the Critical Risk programme.
Work with Health and Safety Advisors, Directors, Managers and staff and other sources to identify indicators and measures required for comprehensive safety and occupational health effectiveness reporting
Design and deploy a system to capture and maintain a wide array of health and safety related data from a variety of organisational databases, business processes and reports
Design reports to integrate data and provide meaningful information to managers and the Safety Governance Group to support their health and safety responsibilities
About you
You will have a relevant data analysis background, preferably in a health and safety field with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have the natural ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of people across the organisation. You are an expert in using databases, reporting, analytics software and Application Programming Interface (API) processes. You display good team member behaviours contributing to an inclusive, trusting and respectful team environment. There can be times when the workload will be high so the ability to work well under pressure is a must.
Key skills

Relevant Tertiary Qualification which includes data analysis
Strong ability to determine specifications and standards for business reporting and maintaining data integrity
Analyse, interpret and interrogate reports, establishing trends and providing advice
Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
A broad understanding of occupational health and safety principles would be advantageous
Current full drivers licence
