Working with Air New Zealand as its trusted asset management partner, Babcock is delivering a customised and innovative asset management solution to drive reliability and efficiency improvements of equipment and provide significant long-term capability and cost benefits.In order to support the introduction and ongoing delivery of this contract we now have an exciting opportunities for Health and Safety Advisor to join our team based near the Auckland airport.About the roleThis position shall ensure that identified health, safety, environment requirements are implemented by appropriate personnel and contractors in all work areas. The position shall also ensure that HSE processes are being adhered to (audit / assess) in accordance with Babcock standards, and legislated standards for health, safety, and environment. The HSE Advisor will champion all health and safety initiatives and promote a strong safety culture.Key responsibilities will include:Drive and enhance the HSE culture and performance through the implementation of HSE, systems, initiatives, projects, policies and procedures.Continuously demonstrate a personal commitment to Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies and Standards to achieve a workplace free from Incidents, discrimination and harassment. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for ourselves, each other and contractors.Assisting all sites in drafting, reviewing, and implementing hazard identification, operational risk assessments, and HSE procedures.Assist in the development of action plans for safety improvement and injury reductionImplementation of the training and education programs as established in the HSE strategy. Including training employees in our HSE procedures and systems.Assisting sites in Investigations, root causes analysis, and continuous improvement.Supporting sites to ensure that emergency plans, procedures and programs are established, compliant and tested through structured exercises.Completion of Internal HSE audits in accordance with the audit schedule.Conducting site visits to further develop the health, safety and environmental skills and capabilities of all employeesEnsuring that Babcock staff, contractors and visitors to company sites are aware of their OH&S obligations and Babcock policies and requirements relating to OH&S.Constantly looking for opportunities to implement health and safety improvement initiatives across Babcock.Work alongside department leads to promote safety throughout Babcock.Advise employees on safe work practices.About youThis role requires someone with a Level 3 certificate in Health and Safety and preferably within the Airside or Heavy Equipment environment.You will be a confident communicator and team player with an ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload with a strong attention to detail.At least 3 years’ experience in a similar safety roleWell-developed Report Writing and Presentation SkillsRelationship management and influencing skills.Formal investigation training such as ICAMFormal lead or internal auditor trainingKnowledge of current and impending health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations.Strong analytical skills, experience in working with trends and indicators.Experience of working in an industrial or heavy machineryExperience of enhancing environmental controlsYou will need to be able to obtain an airside drivers permit (which we will assist you with); as well as an Airside Security ClearanceApplicants must legally be entitled to work in New ZealandTech Savvy – enjoy working with new technology to manage work orders and tasksWhat’s in it for You:Support our National CarrierWork in a globally recognised company – gain internationally recognised experienceFREE onsite Parking – don’t worry about parking fees.Tight nit team with support from Head OfficeBabcock offers a supportive and engaging environment, Central to Babcock’s core values are those of health, safety and environment and diversity so if you would like to be part of an exciting and engaged team, then please register your interest via the ‘Apply Now” button below
