About the Role
Your role will be responsible for the effective operation of LIC's technology systems as well as servicing and supporting internal customers and working with our external partners to deliver efficient and robust technology solutions. You will work closely with your peers in the Technology Leadership team to ensure that LIC's partner relationship model works well and technology solutions deliver maximum value to LIC.
You will also be working towards the development of an effective DevOps model for LIC Technology, enabling delivery teams to take direct ownership of software and operating systems, especially cloud based solutions underpinning Digital services, including empowering and supporting indirect reports, outside of your direct control.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Creating a high performing team from a group of passionate service delivery professionals, including our external suppliers.
Providing leadership for delivery of 24/7 service operations and KPI compliance;
Managing and mitigating risk by ensuring there are comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans in place, which are maintained and tested to ensure the best possible service to our business;
Being responsible for the quality of the relationships and service delivery between Technology, external parties and its internal and external customers,
Managing key, outsourced technology vendors responsible for core systems' operations and end user computing, ensuring a robust partner relationship model for Technology and LIC
Working closely with the Head of Architecture & Strategy, to ensure there is a suitable strategy in place for the improvement of service operations, including customer (both internal and external),, system performance and reliability, robust security, effective risk mitigations and controls, improved cost efficiencies and support for a global delivery model (as required);
Creation, execution and delivery of the agreed service operations strategy with ongoing continuous improvements, including service and customer improvement plans;
Operating in line with Security best practice, ensuring we are compliant and operate effective controls to protect our systems;
Owning the management and running of the Change Advisory Board (CAB);
Owning both the incident and problem management processes, including facilitation to resolution;
Establishing metrics, key performance indicators, a service catalogue and service level agreements (SLAs) to continually improve the performance of IT operations;
Manage the P&L for Technology operations ensuring enterprise software agreements and vendor service agreements are current and cost effective for LIC.

About You
This is a senior role taking ownership of the implementation and operationalisation of the Technology Strategic Plan for LIC. This role requires someone with proven experience in delivering fit-for-purpose digital solutions that can add value to our businesses. Naturally, we will be looking for someone with high intellect, commercial nous, technical ability, and an extensive set of proven skills and experience.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Strong leadership, mentoring and coaching skills;
Proven experience in running operational areas, including the service delivery functions and management of technical teams for a medium to large business.
Ability to deal with concepts and complexity as well as anticipate future consequences and trends;
Sound financial acumen with the ability to turn an idea into an investment case and experience negotiating commercial technology agreements;
Strong external partner management and relationship skills including experience in managing service catalogues and SLA management;
Proven ability to deliver and recover in a disaster recovery or crisis event.
