We're charged with leading the regulatory system within the New Zealand government and making regulation work better for everyone.
We are a small group of dedicated professionals, working in a 'can do' environment.About the RoleThe Head of Legal leads a small team and is responsible for overseeing and managing the Ministry's legal operations, providing legal advice and services to support the Ministry and our objectives, strategic oversight, risk management, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
They will provide expert advice on legal compliance, corporate governance, and risk management and advise on policy and operational proposals that support the Ministry's functions.About youYou will be an experienced lawyer with a deep understanding of the machinery of government.
We need someone with a proven track record of providing legal advice across a range of areas, including constitutional and administrative law, the public management system, and the regulatory management system.
You're comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels.
You're comfortable working in an environment that's still developing, you can think with agility, bring a lens of continuous improvement, and you're happy to roll your sleeves up.
