A few things you should know about Northland Regional Council… we aren't about parking tickets, roading, building consents or any of that stuff!
Our work is ultimately about working together to care for our region's incredible environment and many communities, matching our skills and resources with the vision and aspirations of our people.
Toitu te whenua, toitu to moana, toitu te tangata. If the land is well, if the sea is well, the people will thrive.
Why do we need a Groundwater Scientist?
Our groundwater is a valuable resource and our communities want more advanced warning of water risks to have more sustainable management. There is community wide benefit from monitoring and understanding our various water resources and risks in Northland. Our Natural Resources Science Team focus on providing environmental scientific advice and expertise supporting evidence-based policy development and decision-making for the sustainable management of our freshwater, coastal, air and soil resources.
The opportunity
You will undertake the hydrogeological investigations to help further develop our understanding of past and existing impacts on groundwater in Northland. You will perform statistical analysis, reporting and provide advice and expertise to a wide range of customers and have opportunities to be involved in national projects. Another key component will be assisting with the development and review of scientific strategic directions for the Department.
This newly created role is based at our Whangarei Office in the Northland Region, home to famous white sand beaches, wineries and a scenic escape from big city life. A great lifestyle opportunity exists here to live in district where you're only a short trip to the coast to enjoy the amazing surfing, fishing, boating, beaches and other natural wonders that the area has to offer.
