General Surgeon, Surgical Services 1.0 Fte

Gisborne Hospital is the base hospital for the wide geographical area, Tairawhiti, extending up the East Cape of New Zealand, creating enormous scope and variety in the work available to an enthusiastic and skilled general surgeon. Providing healthcare to a population of 47,000, Hauora Tairawhiti is well supported locally by comprehensive surgical services and has a full range of diagnostic facilities on site including a new MRI scanner and CT scanner. We have strong ties with our tertiary referral centre in Waikato.
We are looking for a colleague and team-player who is keen to enhance our already comprehensive general surgical service. We would particularly value an applicant with an interest in breast surgery and endoscopy. You'll share responsibility for the general surgical specialist assessment and care of patients at Gisborne Hospital with three other general surgeons. You will be required to manage a wide range of acute general surgical conditions including urology and vascular pathology.

Applicants must either be vocationally registered or be eligible for vocational or temporary registration as provided by the Medical Council of New Zealand. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a current vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). Candidates who are not currently registered with the MCNZ should be aware it is the requirement of the MCNZ that your qualifications are approved through EPIC.
