We have a unique opportunity for two suitably qualified General Practitioners to join our collegial, friendly team at Health Care Centre general practice in Wairoa.
This is a rural family practice, Cornerstone Accredited since 2015 and a stable, inter-generational client base of approx. 3050 patients. The practice has Practice Nurses who can provide nurse specific services and work under Standing Orders, a prescribing Rural Nurse Specialist, and senior Administration staff. They operate as a close-knit team, are welcoming, friendly and supportive. There is a high level of collegiality across the two General Practices in Wairoa, providing regular local peer group meetings and opportunities to reviews cases.
The work is varied and often challenging. A wide range of general experience is a requirement, and an ability to work in a small rural hospital providing after hours care is crucial.
Wairoa is part of the Hawke's Bay District Health Board. Hawke's Bay Hospital consultants and specialists provide expert and responsive support 24/7.
The successful applicants will have Medical Council of New Zealand certification. Ideally, working towards or be vocationally registered in GP or Rural Hospital Medicine (or an equivalent qualification that would lead to specialist recognition and have an ongoing commitment to providing a high quality service to the community).
Wairoa is a small friendly town in northern Hawke's Bay of the North Island. Servicing a large rural community Wairoa's population is around 4300 with a further 4200 residing in the wider Wairoa countryside. It is situated on the banks of the Wairoa river, is close to the magnificent Lake Waikaremoana and Te Urewera National Park (one of New Zealand's 10 great walks), and the unspoilt beach at Mahia, all offering a great mix of outdoor experiences.
