Horizon Energy is a community trust owned electricity distributor operating in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, headquartered in Whakatane; with subsidiary electrical contracting and infrastructure construction business and a nationwide heating, ventilation, cooling and refrigeration construction and service business, in multiple locations across New Zealand, and also operates in the South Pacific. Current NZ staff numbers around 800 and South Pacific operations around 100.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and in partnership with the Senior Leadership team, the General Manager People & Performance will lead the design, development, implementation and continuous improvement of human resources, HSEQ, organisational development and workplace culture strategies. This will include aligning and driving the policies, practices and actions that support the overarching strategy goals, objectives and values of the Horizon Energy Group.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships across all levels of the business. You will be confident coaching Managers to get the best from their people and instrumental in developing a culture which is caring, supportive and high performing.
The ideal candidate will have:
10+ years' experience in similar Senior Leadership roles
Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management and/or Health and Safety Management
Advanced business management qualification is desirable
Be highly skilled in Employment and Industrial Relations
Be highly skilled in HSAW Act 2015 and safe work practices
Proven experience in workforce planning, engagement strategies and talent and succession management
A proven history of introducing people, safety and culture initiatives which achieve results
Be a trusted business advisor and subject matter expert
The ability to inspire others to do their best every day
A great sense of humor is a must!
This role will be responsible for:
Driving our People, Safety and Culture strategies business-wide
Proactive partnering with Leaders across the business
Leading and developing a team of HR and Health Safety professionals
Creating, delivering and driving memorable engagement initiatives
Process and continuous improvement
Projects - there are some exciting ones on the horizon!
