We're looking for a dynamic leader who can balance strategic direction with operational excellence and drive business growth in the construction and infrastructure sector.
As General Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and driving the overall success of Acon Industries.
You will work closely with the Managing Director, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure our projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality.
This is a key leadership role where you'll shape the strategic direction of the business while embedding a strong, values-based culture focused on safety, people development, and performance.Lead and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and profitabilitySet clear goals and performance targets aligned with company visionLead team meetings, ensure alignment, and maintain a strong, inclusive company cultureOperations & Project DeliveryOversee project execution to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget controlContinuously improve workflows and decision-making processesEnsure compliance with client specifications and industry standardsManage budgets, monitor costs, and ensure financial targets are metApprove expenditures and implement cost control strategiesDrive profitability through pricing, forecasting, and margin improvementPeople & SafetyPromote a strong safety culture and ensure WHS complianceLead people development, training, and performance initiativesOversee resourcing and staff retention across office and field teamsBuild long-term relationships with councils, developers, contractors, and suppliersLead the bidding, proposal, and negotiation processesEnsure client satisfaction across all projectsCompliance & Risk ManagementEnsure legal, environmental, and industry complianceIdentify and manage risks to protect and future-proof the businessDrive continuous improvement and adopt new technologiesOversee business systems, reporting tools, and process upgradesReport to the Managing Director on key performance metricsA strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to leadershipProven experience in managing operations, budgets, and teams in construction, infrastructure, or related industriesSkilled in project delivery, financial oversight, and stakeholder engagementStrong communicator who can lead, motivate, and represent the company at all levelsPassionate about building a safe, skilled, and engaged workforceExperience in senior leadership roles, preferably in construction or infrastructureProven ability to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to quality standardsStrong commercial acumenCertifications in project management, risk, or safety (PMP, Prince2, WHS etc.)
