Full Time Pipfruit Block Supervisor

We are a large horticultural operation with a focus on growing superior quality fruit for prominent local and global customers. We are based on the Waimea Plains near Richmond, Nelson growing a mix of pipfruit, boysenberries and kiwifruit on over 200 hectares of land.

The Nelson district is a lovely place to live, consistently enjoying the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand and offering an abundance of activities including, water sports, mountain biking, hiking and the creative arts.

Our Ford Block is a 25ha new pipfruit development, which incorporates exciting new growing systems to deliver high performing varieties to meet the ever changing global demand.

You will need attention to detail and will be able to put your hands to a wide range of tasks. You will be involved in all aspects of the fruit production, this will require a good level of fitness and health.

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

• experience (minimum of 3-5 years) in all aspects of orchard operations including development, pruning, thinning, spraying, harvest
• a willingness to learn and adapt to change and be able to find solutions to challenges
• able to work unsupervised in a productive and proactive way
• supervisory experience
• high level of communication skills and good with a mix of culturally diverse people
• experience operating plant and machinery
• Growsafe certification
• a clean driving licence and your own reliable transport
• the flexibility to work extended hours, when required

We typically work an 8 hour day with additional hours as required depending on the seasonal tasks. In winter we work 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 8am to 1pm (if needed). Minimum of 40 hours per week.

You will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
