Key accountabilities:
The Software Developer is expected to:Build applications and solve technical problems in a manner consistent with their development best practices as defined by the Front-End Coach and School.Work collaboratively with people of various skill sets.Proactively reflect on your areas of improvement and strive to learn and develop new skills across a variety of technology platformsIdentify and pursue a secondary area/school of personal (technical) development (e.g. DevOps, Android, iOS, etc)
Key Tasks and Skills:
As a Software Developer you need to be able to:Demonstrate and promote the vision and valuesShow excellent communication skillsUnderstand that innovation is a team sport. You will need to be a positive and engaging member of the team.Learn and follow existing processes and practices with the aim of becoming proactive and autonomousContribute to business and systems requirements analysis, and the design and usability of new features and functionalityWrite and maintain code that meets their requirements, respects their coding style and best practices, and is easily understandable by your teammatesPerform Functional testing, Unit testing, and Integration testing of your own work, and occasionally the work of others, using relevant methodsCreate and maintain technical documentation, especially when your own work is done on shared or public codebasesBe aware at all times of the issues and errors captured by the performance and crash frameworks that they useShare knowledge with other members in the Schools that you are a member ofMake use of available resources to maintain and enhance knowledge of relevant technologies as appropriateConsider the financial costs involved in developing our solutions (e.g. cloud, test devices, licenses etc)Seek (in a responsible manner) to improve the quality of the codebaseHave a keen eye on what could turn into a bottleneck, tech debt, or privacy/security issue, and raising any concerns with the CoachesScale your thinking from kilobytes to petabytes
