About the team & role
We have an exciting opportunity for a 2-5 year PAE lawyer to join our Banking & Financial Services section as a financial services and funds lawyer. Working as part of this highly regarded team, we are open for this position to be either based in our Melbourne or Sydney office. Our national Financial Services team is led by Partner, Harry New, who is ranked as a leading lawyer in the area. The team has approximately 15 people (including 3 Partners and 2 Special Counsel who are funds management experts) and this role will have the opportunity to work closely with Partners and other team members of other practice groups.
We have a strong practice in wholesale property funds and wholesale credit funds providing advice on fintech, cryptocurrency and blockchain. We regularly advise responsible entities of registered schemes, and work with issuers of retail share funds and hedge funds. Our Financial Services team regularly engages with industry groups and with ASIC to develop policy and new legislation. The successful candidate will be invited to contribute to the development of financial services regulation.
Skills & experience
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in a variety of financial services matters, including both wholesale and retail funds and in both regulatory and transactional work, and be able to work autonomously and as part of a team. This opportunity will suit someone who is willing to take responsibility on matters, with appropriate supervision.
