We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, savvy Financial Controller to join our fascinating and complex organisation.Reporting directly through to our Chief Financial Officer, you will have the overall responsibility for management of the organisation’s core financial control activities including statutory reporting, internal controls, external audit, taxation, payables, treasury, policies and procedures. You will be an experienced leader to a team of 5 Direct Reports, providing day to day management support and enhancing capability.
To be successful in this position you will need:
Proven ability to operate successfully as a people leader and contribute as part of the broader Finance Leadership Team
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to a range of audiences.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Public Sector financial management environment including extensive knowledge of all relevant statutes, Government policy, accounting principles and management practices.
Experience in preparing external accountability documents and Treasury processes such as externally published Financial Statements, Estimates, Baseline Updates etc. Keeps abreast of legislative changes and changes to accounting standards to ensure external accountability documents are compliant.
Previous experience in a similar position in a state sector agency or large diverse organisation is important and prior audit experience preferable.
Strong business acumen and a good understanding of business management and analysis techniques.
Proven ability to implement step-change improvements to core financial systems and processes.
Experience and understanding of a large enterprise reporting system such as SAP is advantageous.
