Position purpose

The Finance Manager will be part of the Operations team, being responsible for leading and managing all finance accounting and reporting functions. In addition, the position provides high-level, comprehensive support to the Operations Manager and Leadership team.
Key aspects of the role include

• Ensure organisational finances are managed to appropriate standards.
• Manage and prepare accounts monthly, quarterly and annually for reporting purposes, both internally and externally.
• Provide support to the Leadership team around commercial decision making.
• Develop and maintain the financial systems, processes and procedures to ensure that they are efficient, up to date, while offering support in meeting reporting and audit obligations.
Reportsto Operations Manager as a member of the Operations Team
Key tasks and accountabilities
• Ensure finances are managed to appropriate standards.
• Manage and prepare accounts monthly, quarterly and annually for reporting purposes, both internally and externally.
• Process payroll on a fortnightly basis.
• Process and pay all accounts payable and receivable on time.
• Work with the Leadership Team on financial planning, budget development, reforecasts and all other financial lifecycle matters.
• Engage with Audit NZ and other external key stakeholders as and when required.
• Manage cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available to meet operational requirements.
• Manage relationships with the bank, accountants and auditors.
• Manage the Corporate Services budget to maximise efficiencies and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Recommend potential ways to reduce operational expenditure costs across the organisation.
• Provide support to the Leadership team around commercial decision making.
• Prepare reports, budgets, commentaries and financial statement as and when required.
• Supply internal and external stakeholders with accurate and timely data as needed
• Provide ‘easy to digest’ financial information to the Leadership team.
Skills, Competencies and Experience
Relevant Finance degree and professional qualification e.g. CIMA/CPA/CA.
• Chartered Accountant with a minimum 7-8 years’ experience.
• Broad experience of the full end to end financial operation in a similar sized organisation.
• Experience in government compliance and financial reporting requirements is preferable.
• Advanced working experience with accounting packages, preferably Xero.
• Excellent accounting background and knowledge of accounting and finance compliance, month end closing, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data.
• Proactive at managing a multitude of internal/external relationships.
• An ability to contribute to strategic challenges.
• Excellent verbal communication and the ability to engage and gain buy-in at all levels.
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to properly analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
• Strong organisational and excellent interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills of a high professional standard.
• Be able to lead and take ownership of all areas of the finance function.
• Be results orientated, proactive and able to solve complex problems.
• Be able to work autonomously and be driven to achieve results.
• Confident analytical and problem-solving ability with strong attention to detail.
• Works in a structured and methodical style.
• A team player who positively contributes to a high performing team.
• Willingness to take ownership and responsibility for their role.

• Able to simultaneously manage a diverse range of projects.
• Task-orientated and focused.
