Farmwise® Consultant

Due to increasing demand, LIC wants very capable rural professionals to join its experienced national team of farm business consultants, who provide practical, informed and reliable advice to our farmers, to help them reach their business goals.

As a FarmWise® Consultant, you'll be one of a network of over 20 throughout New Zealand, supported by a National FarmWise® Manager, working to operate a profitable user pays individual consultancy business unit. You will develop your customer base and share with them ongoing useful and innovative solutions, along with your knowledge and expertise, to help them make good decisions about their dairying business.

About You

You'll display strong empathy toward farmers, complemented by a 'can-do 'attitude. Your ability to keep up to date with farming trends and ability to provide cutting edge advice and support to dairy farmers, will be important to the success of this role.

You'll also be keen to learn, skill up on and apply tools and innovations that FarmWise®, LIC and the industry develops to continue to add value for your farmer clients.

You will be comfortable talking the language of the dairy farmer, and you'll understand the issues and challenges they face, both day-to-day, and long-term.

A key component to this role is having expertise in dairy farming systems and practical experience in understanding the margins and financial business of dairy farming. Effective communication and computer skills are key components of the job. This, along with a good understanding of nutrient management, an ability to effectively use Overseer and be able to work in the environmental advice area. Farm business consultancy experience is preferred along with a good knowledge of the local issues.
