Farm Development Assistant

Wilkins Farming Co is a longstanding family farming business based in Northern Southland with operations spanning livestock, cropping and contracting.

Within Wilkins Farming Co we have a small team of 'Earth Works' personnel charged with general farm maintenance and development covering tasks such as drainage, lane maintenance, irrigation, tree removal and other special projects. We have modern equipment suitable to cover these tasks including diggers, trucks, grader, roller etc.

We are looking for somebody to join this team who is energetic and keen to learn, who is passionate about operating equipment and who takes pride in their work. Personnel are expected to keep equipment clean and able to manage normal paperwork requirements of being a contractor. Some machine experience is necessary but the main requirement is a good attitude with an appetite to learn. The successful applicant will have the opportunity for career progression and we are prepared to support them through the process of attaining relevant licence's and certificates.

This role will involve exposure to a diverse range of tasks as outlined above and will also involve some manual labour so applicants must be physically capable and prepared to apply themselves as part of our busy and hardworking team. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work under and learn from high quality experienced operators, on the other hand they will be required to work unsupervised at times also.

The job is based out of Wendonside but is spread all over Northern Southland from day to day, competitive pay to match the skills and experience of the successful applicant are on offer.
