Liaison Psychiatry
Expression of Interest - Overnight Mental Health Nurse (Casual)
Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified and experienced mental health nurses to workcasual rostered overnight shiftsin the Emergency Department.
Liaison Psychiatryis based at Auckland City Hospital and provides specialist advice and consultation to services and teams within Auckland DHB for people with concurrent physical and mental health needs. The service also provides assessment, advice and consultation to the Emergency Department at Auckland City Hospital. The multi-disciplinary team consists of Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurse Specialists, Registrar, Clinical Psychologist and Admin support.
The overnight mental health nurse will be responsible for urgent and planned assessments and planning and delivering care and treatment to service users.
The role includes facilitating a single point of access to mental health services and coordination of acute assessment and treatment. The aim is to have two clinicians available each night, one of whom will be the "awake DAO" based at Te Whetu Tawera and anticipate that the role working closely and collaboratively with the on call registrar. The provision of coaching, education both formally and informally to Auckland City Hospital staff about mental health is also an important part of the role.
We will provide you with full orientation and consider any development needs you might have in taking up the casual role.Remuneration will be at Grade 5 of the senior nursing scale.
We welcome expressions of interest from registered mental health nurses and current DAOs. We would also consider nurses who are interested in taking up a secondment.
As an ideal candidate, you will also have:
A current registered nurse registration and APC
Level 4 PDRP
Duly Authorised Office status
Minimum of 5 years post registration experience
Community mental health nursing experience
Demonstrate knowledge and skills for assessment, planning, monitoring and evaluation of care needs
Demonstrate advanced communication skills including negotiation and interpersonal skills
A clear aptitude and track record for working effectively in both a team environment and autonomously
A willingness to contribute to quality improvement projects
