The successful candidate will be responsible for leadership in environmental management, resource planning, and organisational capability development. This role requires expertise in resource management and a sound understanding of Ngati Kahu cultural values and aspirations.Mo te tunga | About the RoleProvide timely and effective advice to the CEO on resource management issues.Uphold Ngati Kahu Iwi Environmental Management priorities, including Resource Consents, Local Government Plans, and Environment Court hearings.Provide environmental planning advice to stakeholders and contribute to the development of Te Runanga a iwi o Ngati Kahu activities and projects.Support the partnership opportunities with key stakeholders to promote appreciation and awareness of Ngati Kahu culture and environmental drivers.Support the development of the Ngati Kahu Iwi Environmental Management Plan and support hapu kaitiakitanga over the environment within Ngati Kahu.Advocate for Ngati Kahu in regional and district plans, Long Term Council Community Plans, and annual plans.Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation.Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management or relevant discipline.Knowledge in planning and resource management, including resource consents, regional and district plans, and annual plans.Proven knowledge of the Resource Management Act and other relevant legislation, with a focus on Ngati Kahu environmental and cultural protection.Willingness to present reports and recommendations to decision-making bodies.Understanding and respect for kaupapa Maori, te reo me ona tikanga, and relationships within te ao Maori.Excellent communication skills and ability to foster positive relationships with stakeholders.Results-oriented mindset with a focus on monitoring and evaluating the implementation of action plans.Nou te rourou | What's in it for you?Ongoing supportMaking a positive impact on environmental management and cultural preservation within Ngati KahuThe Runanga is responsible for all government-related matters such as the claims against the Crown (involving both fisheries and land), social welfare programmes, training and employment programmes, conservation and resource management matters, health programmes, housing programmes, economic development programmes and so on. The hui-a-Iwi passed a resolution to set up Te Runanga-a-Iwi o Ngati Kahu with representation from every marae and hapu throughout Ngati Kahu.
