About the Opportunity:
Based at our Whareroa site in South Taranaki, this position is an essential part of our environmental team, reporting in to the Environmental Manager. You will lead and support significant aspects of the site Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO14001 standards, and you will be involved in internal and external audits, non-compliance event management, as well as initiating improvement work.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Lead key aspects of the site’s Environmental Management system in accordance with ISO14001:2015, such as carrying out departmental risk reviews, closeout of audit actions and investigations of non-compliances.
Review and update environmental management plans, and contribute to the review and improvement of departmental operational procedures relating to control of environmental risks
Carry out investigations into environmental incidents and manage the identification and review of environmental risks on site
Evaluate compliance monitoring data and prepare monthly and annual consent reports
Support site with Sustainability initiatives such as; solid waste, water, community engagement and energy
Provide support for the daily operation of the site stormwater and wastewater systems and other environmental control systems
Provide environmental technical support to site and deliver environmental awareness training.
Lead environmental improvement initiatives and other improvement projects at the discretion of the Environmental Manager.
About you:
You will be a resilient and passionate person, ideally holding a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or Engineering. Your strong technical skills, conceptual mindset, and ability to analyse data will help you succeed and gain credibility when dealing with stakeholders. This role is a great opportunity to develop and extend your environmental management skillset.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Exposure to environmental compliance and management systems (with reference to ISO 14001)
A genuine commitment and passion for environmental sustainability
Experience in Excel and data analysis with a natural flair for proactive problem-solving
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ideally, experience within a manufacturing and /or agricultural industry environment
