Position Description

Great opportunity as part of the Auckland site leadership team to take initiative to continuously improve the existing plant equipment performance
Based at their site in Auckland (Penrose), the Engineering Supervisor will take full responsibility for all the reactive engineering breakdowns and taking initiative to continuously improve the existing plant equipment performance. This is a newly created shift supporting role- we currently have an engineer on the day shift (working 7am to 3pm 4 weekdays and Sundays) and we are currently implementing a secondary role which will complement existing structures. We envisage that the incumbent will be based on site between say from 1 or 2pm (for some overlap) and complete an 8-hour shift finishing around 9 to 10pm. We offer flexibility around this as the key requirement will be to work a weekend day when the plant is not running and in return take off a day in lieu in the week. Alternatively, we would also consider a 4 day on 3 day off pattern or open to hearing your proposal that suits your lifestyle and meets our requirements.

As part of the site’s leadership team, you will be working within a strong team based culture focussed on safety and continuous improvements. The incumbent will participate in the site leadership functions including quality, C.I. and GMP practises.

JOB PROFILE
Reporting directly to the Technical Manager (based in Auckland, Wiri) and with a dotted line into the sites Service Centre Manager, you will be given the autonomy to perform your role and be expected to resolve issues very quickly, treating the functions (and budget) as if it is your own business taking comprehensive ownership.

Your key responsibilities will include:
Drive a zero-harm environment.
Support the sites DIFOT targets through plant up-time to meet customer expectations
Hands-on fault finding and initial repair work, evaluation of issues and present/recommend alternatives, liaise with external contractors to perform some of the specialised work.
Apply best practice methods to obtain continuous improvement in safety, cost efficiency product quality and service delivery
Maintain administrative Safety and compliance systems, purchase order processing, PMMS etc.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

This role will have a great appeal to technically sound engineers with an understanding of high volume, FMCG production and automated manufacturing environments. To be successful in applying for this business critical post you will:
Ideally have a tertiary level electrical/electronic/mechatronics qualification, with around five years’ experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and related systems. Mechanical related qualifications will be considered where electrical capability is demonstrated
Possess experience in maintaining automated manufacturing systems and related equipment.
Display a sound understanding of automated control systems whereby the candidate will be required to fault diagnose and continuously improve existing equipment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and sound computer skill with the basic usage of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Managing capital project work relating to contractors, time based schedules, and expenditure controls etc.
