This role works within a team of advisors who all provide support services to students.
This role is varied and sometimes challenging, so it requires a person who has a good understanding of themselves.This position is with the Learner Engagement team, where the purpose is to work with students, in collaboration with schools and teaching staff, to identify barriers to students' engagement.
To take action to remove or minimise barriers through a range of pastoral care that supports student success and retention for Whitireia students.Key Accountabilities | Nga takohanga matuaContribute to the vocational and educational welfare of students by advising, informing, and assisting students to available support.Use pastoral care strategies that develop independent learners.Refer students to other internal and external services, as required.Monitor specific and general student engagement in collaboration with schools to support students who are at risk due to attendance or other issues.Develop relationships with teaching staff in portfolio areas to promote communication about students' progress and support required to deliver student success.Lead and participate in student events and activities.Location: The role will be primarily based at our Porirua Campus; however, some travel will be required between campuses and into Wellington city campus.
Therefore, a full driver's license is required.Qualification/ExperienceA relevant tertiary qualification (degree level or above).Experience of working in the tertiary sector and with adult learners.What we can offer youWe know it's important to maintain a healthy work/life balance.
