This is an exciting opportunity to join a fascinating, complex part of our business that manages our current and future electricity portfolio, carbon obligations, and diversified fuel types - gas, oil and LPG.Reporting to our Wholesale Analytics Manager, your key responsibilities include:Analyse market trends, focusing on Genesis' portfolio and the impact of hydrology, outages, fuels, regulations, policies, and financial contracts to assess financial risks and opportunities.Maintain and develop reporting to enable accurate and timely reporting on current and forecast hedge book positions, forecasting results in hydro, electricity and gas demands, generation and dispatch.Develop and maintain models to ensure that they provide accurate, consistent, and timely analysis.
Ensure Genesis has current and robust information available to support its analysis and decision-making.Work with, explore, and manipulate large datasets to understand energy market behaviour.Work closely with the trading and fuels teams and the management to understand the complete portfolio structure, to be able to provide analytical and insight expertise.About you:We are looking for someone with a career to date that demonstrates progressive increases in responsibility for analysis and reporting.
An inquisitive nature and ability to communicate and lead commercial conversations and your investigative approach will ensure that you add value.Proven analytical experience, within quantitative financial & commercial and/or analytical role.A degree qualification in a quantitative discipline e.g., Engineering, Science, Mathematics IT combined with commercial discipline - Finance, Economics, Accounting.Advanced PowerBI (including DAX) and skills in one or more of the following: R, SQL, Python.A commercial and business-oriented mindset.Extensive experience working with and a high degree of comfort with large datasets.Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret complex problems and use critical thinking in developing a range of options/solutions.About our benefits:At Genesis, we value your wellbeing and your contribution to our team.
