This role involves overseeing the delivery of the Northland Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) group plan, ensuring communities are prepared for emergencies and can respond effectively.
You will provide leadership to the CDEM team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and maintaining operational readiness are crucial aspects of this role.
As the Group Controller, you will use your operational experience to coordinate emergency responses and work closely with partners to ensure a seamless and effective approach.In this role, you will oversee a dynamic and diverse department of 13.
We are looking for someone with proven experience in a people management role, preferably with a team of similar size who can inspire and lead a team effectively.
You will focus on fostering a positive work environment, driving team performance, and supporting the professional growth of your team members.

Join us to make a significant impact on Northland's emergency management and community resilience.About YouWe are looking for someone who can bring the following to our diverse talent pool:Tertiary qualification or equivalent in emergency management, or an equivalent combination of education and operational experience.Working towards completion or have completed the National Training for CDEM Controllers.Eight years + operational experience working in emergency situations.Well-developed knowledge of emergency management principles, practices and statutes.Experience in working in local or central government and knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and procedures.Experience in performance management, mentorship, and development.Understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti partnership principles and te ao Maori.What's in it for you?Our culture is the core of NRC.
