Job Description

Interested in working on the election?
Be part of something important in your community
This year's General Election will be held on Saturday 19 September 2020 and it will be New Zealand's biggest one yet. It involves over 25,000 staff, working across the country.
We're looking for people to work before election day at Advance Voting Places and on Election Day at Voting Places. The voting period runs for 15 days and we are wanting people to work during the week and on multiple weekends.
If you have strong customer service skills, you should consider getting involved. These are exciting and varied roles within teams that are committed and supportive.
Election Day and Advance voting roles
You and a team of electoral staff will provide voting services in a voting place within your community. The roles are critical to the smooth running of the election and the experience will be rewarding. All staff are paid, and you will receive all the training and support you need to provide good customer services.
Safety and Wellbeing
Your safety and that of voters is critical. No matter where you work at the Electoral Commission protocols will be in place to keep you safe and to manage customers under applicable Covid-19 Alert Levels. This may include personal protective equipment, should it be necessary, for which you will receive training.
About the Electoral Commission | Te Kaitiaki Take Kowhiri
The Electoral Commission wants every New Zealander to trust, value and take part in Parliamentary elections. Here's your chance to contribute to New Zealand's democracy as part of a small team who implement processes and systems for Parliamentary elections and referenda.
