House of Wonder is looking for an extraordinary person to lead their House of Wonder centre in Gisborne. As a fully registered ECE Teacher you will be a natural leader and will be instrumental in leading, developing and inspiring a team of talented teachers.

House of Wonder is no ordinary childcare centre, the unique, innovative and holistic approach to early childhood education means that children, staff and families are given the individual attention needed to thrive.

Suitable applicants will possess the following qualities:
• Have a career that reflects natural growth from teaching into a leadership role
• A passion for innovation and driving pedagogical change through self-review
• Ability to implement creative learning environments - seeing the environment as the third teacher
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to form strong relationships with staff, tamariki and whanau
• Love for learning and professional growth
• Understanding of the Reggio Emilia Approach to education (although not essential)
• Love for Maori culture and language
• Resiliency to problem solve and grow
• High emotional intelligence with the ability to communicate with empathy
• Passion and desire to mentor and inspire your team
• Ability to help write and implement strong centre policies
• NZ ECE Registered and Qualified
House of Wonder – Gisborne is situated in the heart of town with convenient access to many of Gisborne’s natural amenities. The internal spaces and playground design make use of natural materials inspiring tamariki to connect often with the natural world.

The underlying philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Approach. At the heart of the philosophy you will find the believe that learning happens within the context of strong meaningful relationships with people, the natural surroundings and a range of materials. Our centre comes equipped with a fully fitted art studio, with an artist in residence to facilitate exploration and discovery with the tamariki alongside the teachers.
