Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) delivers public health services on behalf of the three district health boards (DHBs) in the Auckland region. ARPHS is a fully integrated public health unit delivering promotion, protection and screening programmes designed to improve the health and wellbeing of the populations of the Auckland region in partnership with mana whenua.
We are looking for a passionate leader to utilise their expertise to lead and develop public and community health services for the people of Auckland in this newly created role. The role is a key strategic role within New Zealand's leading and largest public health service. It is an opportunity to make a real and tangible difference.

You will have a system-wide view and an ability to manage a complex array of key stakeholder relationships, working collaboratively to maintain and encourage collegiate relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and community resources.
The scale of the challenge in health and also within the metro DHBs, will attract professionals that can test themselves in perhaps one of the most challenging and stimulating public health environments in Australasia. This role will afford an individual a real opportunity to make a lasting impact on public health in Auckland.
This part-time (0.5FTE), permanent position will suit a candidate who has experience with publicly funded health care systems to deliver effective, sustainable healthcare services in a large, multifaceted healthcare environment. Experience in leadership roles in public health is advantageous. This role reports to the Chief Medical Officer for Auckland DHB.

Candidates who can demonstrate effective and sustainable leadership and superior communication and networking skills in a publicly-funded healthcare system will be preferred. You will ideally be an opinion leader amongst your professional peers and be adept at staff, financial and change management.
Other key requirements you will need to be able to successfully demonstrate will be:
Ability to inspire productivity improvements. A strong track record at senior management level within a values-based organisation coupled with an innate sense of process.
Exemplary leadership skills. You will possess strong interpersonal skills, be astute politically and above all have the ability to engender enduring and trusting relationships with key stakeholders.
Coaching skills. You will have the ability to work collaboratively alongside clinician leaders and help the to improve their services.
Sensitivity and empathy with the health sector, you will also demonstrate the ability to come up to speed quickly with the nuances and complexities of a large diverse metropolitan population.
