The Senior Project Manager will be responsible to the Assistant Head Major Programmes and Projects (MPP) Overseas for all Capital Works site based activities carried out in any of our Overseas Locations.
Responsibilities Main Responsibilities The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of managing and delivering infrastructure programmes and projects against a broad range of programme and project management functional competences.
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to provide effective management, motivation, co-ordination and development of project teams to deliver a portfolio of projects to time, cost, quality and performance parameters.
Responsibilities include: - Act as the main liaison between the DIO project management team, DIO RD, Commercial, PSP, construction contractors and all other FLC stakeholders.
- Providing the senior Intelligent Client interface in the management of industry partners, selected through various procurement mechanisms to deliver projects on behalf of DIO in line with MOD processes, procedures and contractual terms and conditions.
- Proactive Contract Management to maintain a productive working relationship with industry partners and suppliers, monitoring their performance in terms of quality, time, cost and reliability.
Drive optimal delivery and promptly manage emerging issues to avoid programme delays or cost escalation.
- Manage financial performance of projects within agreed tolerances to control expenditure against approved project budgets and provide accurate financial reporting and forecasting to senior management.
- Undertake project assurance and reviews across the portfolio at key stages to evaluate progress, compliance and probability of delivery to provide confidence to senior management, customers and key stakeholders.
- Working as part of an integrated project team, ensure that costs within the approvals process are robust and ensure that Contracts are managed to deliver value for money for Defence.
Support Customers to manage and maintain project approvals, and deliver within your delegated authority.
- The Senior Project Manager is responsible for working with the Assistant Head MPP to develop a working environment and ways of working to achieve a High Performing Team ethos within the Projects Team and is accountable for ensuring adherence and conformity to all agreed DIO processes and operating procedures and particularly those which are detailed under key infrastructure process.
Leadership responsibilities As a leader within DIO you will; - Inspire and support others and take accountability for what you do - Empower people around you to be the best they can be - Have the confidence to be inclusive and value difference Travel Requirements This post is located at RAF Wyton but regular overseas travel will be required to perform the duties expected of this position.
Travel will be expected to manage delegated projects being delivered to various overseas locations including but not limited to: Cyprus Gibraltar Ascension Islands Falkland Islands Belize Singapore Norway Brunei Jordan Kenya In addition to this travel will be required within the UK to attend meetings with various stakeholders, consultants and contractors.
Desirable Experience & Skills Candidates will preferably hold a recognised construction qualification (NVQ Level 5, HNC/HND or higher in a Construction, Infrastructure or engineering related discipline), membership to a professional body or institution (e.
g.
RIBA, RICS, ICE, CIBSE, IMechE, CIOB or equivalent) and a project management qualification APMP/APM(PMQ)/Prince 2 or equivalent.
