Details of the offer

Fixed-term, full, or part-time opportunity working within our Diabetes teams
Join an experienced and passionate team of healthcare professionals and expand your specialist expertise!
Diabetes specialist experience is preferred and current NZ Registration with the Dietitians Board is essential

Our Purpose:Why we do it
When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you're part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.
The Team:What we do
Nutrition and Dietetics is seeking a NZ Registered Dietitian to join the team. Working closely with patients with complex diabetes requires sound knowledge, skill and experience.
This exciting and challenging role will capitalise on your passion for education as well as your ability to enthuse your patients and motivate real behaviour change. You'll be working in an outpatient setting predominantly, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with specialist health providers and you'll be driven to ensure best health outcomes for people to live well with diabetes.
This is a fixed-term opportunity with a focus on adult diabetes including gestational diabetes, until approximately June 2021 covering parental leave. Although full-time is preferable, we are equally open to hearing from experienced Dietitians with clinical expertise in Diabetes who are looking for part-time. Please clearly outline in your cover letter how many hours you are applying for.
The Role:Where you fit in
In this role, you will be responsible for providing nutritional assessment and education to patients, both one on one and in education groups. You will have a high level of results-driven principles of practice and will be a team-player with a willingness to operate as an educational resource for health professionals, building partnerships with practitioners and patients supporting their self-management successes and challenges.
Your skills will include the following:
Confidence and skills in presenting to both patient groups, and health professionals alike
Skilled ability to engage with people in a variety of settings
Experience with both type one and type two patients, an appreciation of gestational diabetes, along with an understanding of partnership integration models shared between primary care, outpatients services and hospital based systems
Current NZ Registration with the Dietitians Board is essential

We are looking for a self-motivated dietitian who enjoys a challenge, enjoys innovation and applies health improvement models to practice.
Our Culture:What matters to us
