About the Role
We seek Registered Health Professionals with a current practicing certificate to join our Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Service.
The successful candidate will contribute to:

Providing DBT adherent clinical contact with tangata whai ora and their whanau, including assessment, individual therapy, and consultation.
Co-facilitating DBT Skills Groups focused on psychoeducation.
Liaising with multidisciplinary teams, inpatient teams, and primary health providers.
Offering consultation, training, and educational programs to staff, tangata whai ora, their whanau, and the wider community.
Ongoing professional development opportunities include:

Further specialist DBT training, especially if foundational training has not been completed.
Training in trauma treatment, supervision, adult learning, or teaching courses.
Participation in service development projects and passion projects related to the role.
About the Team
The Waikato DBT Service, established over 20 years ago, is a small multidisciplinary team dedicated to growth and excellence in DBT for tangata whaiora, primarily young women with Borderline Personality Disorder and complex trauma histories.
Our team operates on core principles that guide our practice and interactions.
Candidate Profile

Competency in te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to learning.
Experience with Te Tiriti principles, Matauranga Maori, and Kaupapa Maori approaches in healthcare.
Experience working with tangata whaiora with Borderline Personality Disorder.
Advanced clinical skills using evidence-based practices.
Understanding of risk factors and openness to positive risk-taking.
Experience with complex trauma histories.
Collaborative team player, compassionate, passionate, and committed.
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Registered Health Professional.
Knowledge of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is advantageous.
The role involves working with challenging yet rewarding tangata whaiora, requiring maturity, insight, and the ability to manage boundaries, transference, and counter-transference issues.
