About the role:
This organisation carries out a crucial service to the people of New Zealand and the wider international community. The technologies team a part of this organisation develops and maintains a wide range of software systems including databases, models, analysis and processing software, web services, web delivery systems and portals.
As a DevOps Engineer, this role will cover the entire software development lifecycle to ensure the overall quality and continued operation and maintenance of this organisations digital systems. This includes: source code control, code review, automated testing, change management, configuration and release management.
You will work as a full member of the IT Systems Development team to ensure that all software systems meet a high-quality standard of efficiency, usability, accuracy and reliability through the use of best-practice life cycle processes and methods. The role includes the design, development and maintenance of a Continuous Integration tool chain that provides, Build, Unit and Functional Test, Deployment and Performance monitoring tools. Also, this roles includes the installation, configuration and maintenance of third-party software systems that provide key elements of the overall systems infrastructure.
What we want from you?
Strong commercial experience working in a DevOps / Systems engineering based role
Solid understanding of DevOps practices and ways of working
Previous experience working on a mixed on/off premise model
Experience working with Cloud technologies, particularly AWS
Strong knowledge of Unix
Strong knowledge of Kubernetes
Any experience programming in Java (advantageous)
Be familiar maturing a DevOps culture / CICD pipeline
Able to effectively manage expectation and work with development / operations teams on & offsite
Polished communication and interpersonal skills
