Designer Assistant
Bendon is a much loved, iconic New Zealand company with a history dating back 72 years.We are unique in that we design, manufacture and sell our own products includingPleasure State, Heidi Klum Intimates, Fayreform, Lovable,Fredericks of Hollywoodand of course Bendon.
We have recently undertaken a review of our operating model and have made the decision to create one global head office back here in Auckland, New Zealand. We are now recruiting 30 roles across Merchandise, Planning, Sourcing, Retail Operations and Marketing
TheDesigner Assistantwill have responsibility forproviding critical support to the Bendon's Lead Designer in building the brand for each season. This includes the production of design drawings, pattern drafting and grading, prototype fabric and trim choices. The role offers opportunities for the development of your technical and creative skills in design, and experience in fitting and grading of patterns as you work in conjunction with the Lead Designer.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Work with the Production Development team regarding costing systems, profit margin and raw materials for each product range. Ensure alignment with established and agreed Quality Control criteria
Assist in the creative process by supporting the Designer in being aware of competitor activity and performance and international trends
Provide relevant data for new product set up. This includes patterns, bills of materials and full specifications, quote packs for offshore manufacturers, ensure alignment in option counts / retail price points and inflow margins with the brand strategy
Assist with the preparations of communications for range sell-ins to major customers to present design concepts, storyboards and work with the GM
Document designs and prototype information including garment fittings, participate in photo shoots and work with the Merchandise team to assist in the communication of features and benefits of each product.
The role will suit someone with Intermediate to Advanced skills and experience in the ASSYST CAD system for designs, patterns, and data.
Other Skills and Experience Sought:
Pattern making qualification and/or experience
Fitting knowledge of both bras and briefs
Time management and work planning skills
Pattern making and grading, fabric engineering, and garment construction
Basic- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word skills
