Position:Assistant Designer
Reports to:Managing Director or Head of Design Team
Division:PQ Design Team
Start Time:ASAP
Description of Role:
The Assistant Designer will work closely with the supervisor on the continual product development and designs for PQ ranges.
Key Responsibilities:
Trend research for appropriate season to meet PQs interests
Create mood board & colour palette for approval
Assist with the choosing of fabrics and prints
Assist with purchasing of samples
Create fabric overview spreadsheet for suppliers
Create care labels if needed for approval
Create range based on sample development
Create sample request form for approval and forward to supplier
Develop tech packs for approval
Create line sheet (range overview) with appropriate information needed including style name, colour name, size, fabric composition, barcode, order size and ETA for approval
Create barcodes for the range and ensure correct barcodes in time for showing & range drop
Assist with sample approval of fit, quality and workmanship to meet PQ's standards
Checking of stock fit, quality and workmanship if attention is required from design team
Create & manage order form as per instruction for supplier
Participate in photo shoots
Organize the PA and/or interns daily work
Prepare size charts

Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 2 years designing for womenswear in a similar position
Highly motivated and organised
Experience in working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines with the ability to multitask and prioritise jobs
Able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively
Excellent communication skills
Relevant tertiary level education preferred
