Delicatessen Manager

NEW WORLD THORNDON New World Thorndon is a premier supermarket in Wellington and a key point of difference is our Fresh Food Departments – particularly our busy Delicatessen & Hot Food Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for applicants who are currently in a management role within the Supermarket Industry and ready to accept new challenges or who feel they are ready to step up. This position involves reporting to the Retail Manager and leading our large team with key responsibility for delivering positive results for customers, our staff and our business.
Responsibilities will include:
Achieving and improving on set targets
Managing the department in conjunction with the Assistant Manager
Manage the staffing requirements needed to run the department
Leading the staff Performance Management
GP, Wastage, Wages, Store Share targets
Meet with suppliers for ordering, special deals, initiatives and store events
Initiate and manage new product development
Ensuring that all current Health and Safety and Food Safety procedures are strictly maintained
Committed to delivering first class quality products
Ensuring product presentation standards are maintained
Deliver consistently high Customer Service
Full understanding of SAP product and order management system
You will need to be highly computer literate and able to communicate confidently with a large diverse team. We require someone with extensive Delicatessen, Food and/or Supermarket experience and staff management abilities.
You must be someone who is committed to maintaining our high standards, has excellent communication and customer service skills, works well leading a team across different functions and has practical knowledge of current Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures.
The position is full-time, including one weekend shift and extra hours when required. The hours and remuneration will be discussed at an interview.
