About the role
:
Our Deckhands are responsible for a wide range of duties, including ensuring the smooth running of deck duties, and that the overall customer experience on our vessels is world class. They also contribute to the safety of our passengers and support the rest of the crew with marine and vessel operating duties. With the destinations we visit, our team are passionate about the outdoors and enjoy sharing this knowledge with our visitors as they explore some of the best destinations in New Zealand.
With a fleet of 22 high speed passenger catamarans (ranging in length from 24m – 41m) with a range of propulsion systems, you’ll get plenty of variety and have endless learning opportunities.
If you are looking for growth, we will support you to gain qualifications to be a Master for Fullers360 with our internal training programme.
Key Duties:
Lead and influence the customer experience;
Deck work;
Preparing gangways;
Loading and stowing cargo;
Completing engine room checks;
Handling lines in all weather conditions;
Lead of safety on the vessels;
Provide training and guidance to our junior crew;
Provide outstanding customer service in our bar and café during busy periods;
Skills & Experience:
You must hold a current New Zealand SRL ticket (Skipper Restricted Limits) or ILM (Inshore Launch Master) with endorsements for vessels up to 24 meters, High Speed vessels, and large Passenger numbers; or an NZ Chief Mate ticket;
An LCQ and recent barista course are highly advantageous – if you don’t currently have these we can help facilitate you getting these;
You will hold a current seafarers medical;
You will have a minimum 6 months experience in a similar role;
You pride yourself on providing an outstanding customer experience;
You have a proven track record and ability to successfully lead and support your crew;
You will have a high level of maturity, and ability to work under pressure;
You pride yourself on your high standard of personal presentation;
