Job Description Senior Data Warehousing and BI Developer or Data Warehousing Developer
The MBIE data warehousing & business intelligence team supports the environment that underpins reporting and analysis across all of MBIE.
We currently have vacancies for DW&BI Developers based in Wellington, at developer and senior levels depending on qualifications and experience.
Your Technical Background
Working with our DW&BI team and your stakeholders within the Ministry you will have the opportunity to create solutions for a mainly non-technical audience, as such you should be familiar and confident in modelling data, supporting analysts, and designing reports.
Previous experience in a similar environment would be a great advantage.
We're looking for someone with strong systems knowledge to allow you to work with our development and analysis teams and provide advice and feedback where appropriate, always conscience of Best Practice and designing with the longevity in mind that is required in a Government Entity.
It would be a great advantage to have any experience in user behaviour, understanding the best ways to analyse and display information, and present it in clear and accurate formats.

Your Analysis and Communication Skills
The DW&BI Developer role can have a positive impact on business effectiveness. We're looking for someone who is naturally inquisitive, with a real passion for data warehousing and BI. You should be constantly looking for better ways to work, improving usability, data integrity, analysis and reporting and ultimately the effectiveness of our business units.
The DW&BI team is a vital component to our overall ICT branch. We are looking for a strong communicator with solid interpersonal skills. You should be able to build relationships and quickly establish a rapport with those you work with.
Your work load will be constant and varied, as we move through of life cycle of programs you will need to be able to keep pace with both the volume, and at times pressure, of a high performing team.

Mandatory requirements
5+ years' Experience in a Technology Environment
A Tertiary Qualification
A commitment to your ongoing professional development
You must have the right to work in NZ and be able to pass security clearance to Confidential.
Useful experience
Some with SAS products (v9.x / Viya)
Advanced SQL Server
Business analysis in a data warehousing or BI environment
Data modelling, using data vault and\or dimensional methodologies
