About the team
The Data team are responsible for driving the adoption of data driven decision making across Xero - for both our internal users and our global audience of small business owners, bookkeepers and accountants.
We create, manage and deliver a wide range of data services and products including core reporting, key data dimensions, extensible and scalable analytical data processing and storage facilities, machine learning frameworks and API driven prediction services.
We are the center of expertise for data architecture, data modeling, machine learning, ethical data usage and artificial intelligence service design. We also lead the work to raise the data and AI literacy levels across Xero.
About the role
As a Reliability Engineer within the Data Platforms team, you will make an impact by taking ownership & accountability for the performance, reliability and security of our Data Platforms and associated integrations.
You'll work to improve operational statistics by applying reliability engineering practices as agreed by team's Service Level Objectives.

To be successful you will bring:
Exposure and proven track record of implementing and supporting a data platform at scale
Track record of solving customers' problems through software
Experience defining and implementing a capacity planning process
Excellent communication skills
Practical Knowledge of ITIL practices
Takes ownership of problems and executes a pragmatic and collaborative approach to their resolve
Experience in administering virtualisation and container orchestration environments.
Experience with DevOps, including CI/CD, automation
Experience with implementing and integrating with monitoring and alerting tools
Experience in the deployment, automation, maintenance, and management of Cloud-based environments
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or OpenShift
Experience with supporting Data platforms preferably in cloud environments
Experience in securing Big Data environments. Management of security at multiple levels - network, infrastructure, application, and data
Experience in teams employing Agile and DevOps practices - continuous automated testing and deployment of code
Bachelor of Computer Science, or relevant experience
