Lead our calf-rearing operation and work across a Pamu network of farmsThe OpportunityJoin our team at Waitepeka Dairy Support as a Block Manager, where you'll play a key role in managing young stock and supporting farm operations across the season.
Working closely with a supportive and experienced Farm Manager, you'll help plan and execute pasture and stock management activities that optimise performance and improve outcomes across the block.This is a hands-on, varied role where your days could include shifting stock, break fencing, measuring pasture, feeding calves, maintaining accurate records in Farm IQ, or other essential farm tasks.
Your expertise in calf-rearing, feed planning, and maintaining animal health standards will be highly valued.From July to December, you'll lead our calf-rearing operation, taking responsibility for around 800 calves annually — including 300 heifer replacements and 500 dairy-beef calves.During the quieter months, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate, work and contribute across the wider Pamu and Waitepeka farm network (including Dawson Downes – a close neighbouring Pamu farm), gaining variety and exposure to other farm systems.If you're a confident operator with a passion for raising quality stock and want to step into a role with autonomy and support, this is a great opportunity.The FarmThe Waitepeka Complex is just five minutes from Balclutha and close to the stunning Catlins region.
It consists of two dairy farms — Dunns (270 ha) and Lansdown (260 ha) — milking approximately 1,400 cows, along with a 211 ha support block where this role is based.Each dairy farm has its own dedicated Farm Manager and team, while the support block plays a key role in raising calves and supporting overall herd development.Located close to the coastal town of Kaka Point, you'll have access to excellent fishing, hunting, and surf, with good schooling options and school buses right at the gate — making this an ideal lifestyle opportunity for individuals or families.About YouWe're looking for someone with strong practical skills, sound animal husbandry knowledge, and the confidence to lead seasonal operations.
You'll be well organised, proactive, and able to work independently while still being a great team player.
